The Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs of Belgium has extended its travel advisory for Tunisia, issuing the following statement:

Due to the terrorist threat, which can target foreign tourists, the utmost caution must be exercised. Any trip must be assessed on the basis of the security risks incurred. The likelihood of other terrorist security events occurring remains very high. The risks associated with the activities of the jihadist terrorist networks persist, notably due to the return of former combatants from Daesh to Tunisia. It is therefore recommended to adopt the utmost vigilance and avoid the private and public places of high affluence and large gatherings and crowds.

On the Mahdia – Monastir – Sousse – Hammamet – Nabeul – Tunis – Bizerte – Tabarka coast, in the island of Djerba and in the coastal zone Between Djerba and Zarzis. The traveler wisely chooses a place of stay which has taken the necessary measures to secure its customers. Nocturnal trips outside hotel establishments in crowded places should be avoided, as should night travel outside main roads. Enhanced security measures (eg checks, movement bans) may be introduced by the authorities. It is important to abide by them strictly.

Unorganized travel is discouraged in the rest of Tunisia. It is strongly recommended that tour operators and certified travel agencies are in close contact with the Tunisian security services.

Travel is strictly forbidden in the border areas with Algeria to the west of the Tabarka – Jendouba – Kef – Kasserine – Gafsa – Tozeur – Nefta axis, and in the border areas with Libya south of the axis Nefta – El Faouar – Ksar Ghilane – Ksar Ouled Soltane – Zarzis.
