Onye isi ala Cameroon ga-agwa ATA Presidential Forum on Tourism

On Friday, September 25, the President of Cameroon, alongside Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Tourism from Namibia, Malawi, Zambia, and Zanzibar, as well as a high-level World Bank representative, will participate in the Africa Travel Association’s Fourth Annual Presidential Forum on Tourism at New York University. The topic will be The State of Tourism in Africa: How Tourism Can Drive Economic Growth for a Nation, Region, and Continent.

African leaders will speak about their tourism sectors and both the current and future state of the industry to a wide range of representatives from the diplomatic community, travel trade organizations, academia, and travel industry trade media. NYU’s Africa House will once again host the event, with South African Airways and Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) serving as co-sponsors. The Tanzania Tourist Board will present its 2009 Media Award to Eloise Parker.

ATA organized the first forum in 2006 with the Tanzanian and Nigerian presidents. In 2007, Tanzania’s and Cape Verde’s heads of states delivered the keynote addresses. They were joined by ministers from Benin, Ghana, Lesotho, and Malawi, as well as representatives from Rwanda and the Africa Union.

Last year, ministers from Tanzania, Zambia, and Malawi participated. With its mission of strengthening partnerships between African nations and the global travel trade industry, the forum is an opportunity for leaders, who are attending United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York, to put travel and tourism at the forefront of the international community’s agenda and on the industry’s event calendar.
