A special connection between the United States and the United Arab Emirates becomes obvious thus year. 2018 marks 100 years since the birth of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE, who passed away in 2004.
In celebration of the Year of Zayed, Don Victor Mooney of Queens, New York will cycle the five boroughs of New York City and plant trees in honor of Sheikh Zayed legacy of the environment. Afterwards, he’ll embark on a second bike tour from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, with seven ghaf trees – the national tree of the U.A.E. The seven ghaf trees will symbolize and celebrate Sheikh Zayed vision of uniting all seven Emirates. The bike and trailer will be donated to the Year of Zayed organizers.
Don Victor Mooney of Queens will begin a dual bike ride and plant trees as a tribute to the founder of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nayhan for his environmental legacy called the Zayed Mile (July 3-8) in NYC and the second leg from Dubai to Abu Dhabi (July 16-22).
The Zayed Mile begins from the United Nations on July 3. At the conclusion, the bike + trailer will be donated to the Year of Zayed organizers in the UAE.
To commemorate this historic national occasion, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates has declared that 2018 will officially be known in the UAE as the Year of Zayed.
Consistent with the values of the late Sheikh Zayed, it is intended that the Year of Zayed will involve people of all ages, nationalities, faiths and backgrounds in the UAE and internationally. http://www.thezayedmile.info
