Istanbul is preparing to host the 64th General Assembly of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
A press release issued by IATA said the General Assembly would begin with major celebrations.
Stating that financially it had been an important year for the air transportation industry, Council said overall air carriers globally earned $5.6 billion.
IATA reported the rise in efficiency and the growth in economies compensated for the rise in fuel prices.
The World Air Transport Summit will be held simultaneously with IATA’s General Assembly between June 1-3.
Turkish Airlines (THY) Director-General Temel Kotil said that the congress would make valuable contributions to promotion of both Turkey and the THY to the world.Airline Chief Executives and other industry commentators will debate the key issues facing the air transport industry including the environmental challenge, new technologies, regulatory changes and innovative business models.The 2007 IATA Annual General Meeting and World Air Transport Summit was held in Vancouver, Canada. The 650 delegates gathered for the event discussed the industry’s most important issues, with executive briefing sessions on security and environment.
