Three locations in Guam are set to display and dazzle the midnight sky and say welcome to the 2023 new year.

The Ụlọ ọrụ ndị ọbịa nke Guam (GVB) is inviting residents and visitors to ring in the new year in the island’s capital city of Hagåtña and the tourist district of Tumon for the return of the New Year’s Eve fireworks display.

GVB is working once again with local vendors JamzMedia Productions/ShowPro Pyrotechnics and Bella Wings Aviation for three shows that will mark the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023.

The drone light show will be exclusive to Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Park (Ypao Beach) at 11:50 p.m. on December 31, 2022. The nine-minute show will take off at Ypao Beach and will angle toward the east side of Tumon Bay.

The three New Year’s Eve Fireworks Shows will launch precisely at midnight and will last approximately 15 minutes long to light up the night sky. The artful display of 1,500 shells of fireworks will be launched in Hagåtña off the treatment plant causeway and also from two 16×16 pontoons in Tumon Bay near Ypao Beach and Pacific Islands Club and the Hyatt Resort in Tumon Bay.

“Destination Guam will truly be where America’s New Year begins as it is the first location in the United States to welcome 2023.”

GVB President & CEO Carl T.C. Gutierrez added: “We’re proud to work with Bella Wings Aviation and JamzMedia so our island residents and visitors can celebrate the coming new year together! This NYE drone and fireworks shows are great examples of how our tourism works to offer safe, family-friendly events that all can enjoy.”

The Bureau has invested $120,000 for the New Year’s Eve fireworks and $25,000 for the drone light show.

#InstaGuam contest

GVB is also inviting the community to submit their best drone and fireworks photos or videos at visitguam.com/instaguam to enter to win $150 as part of the holiday edition of the weekly #InstaGuam weekly contest.

Swimming is not advisable in the waters between Ypao Beach and Hyatt on New Year’s Eve. Jamzmedia and Bella Wings Aviation will be working with the Guam Police Department, Guam Fire Department, and GVB’s Visitor Safety Officers to keep everyone safe. GVB is also encouraging everyone who will watch the shows to pick up after themselves and keep Guam clean.
