Cornwall Airport Newquay’s awesome April – 39% growth

Witnessing its busiest April ever, Cornwall Airport Newquay (CAN) has handled a record 41,000 passengers during the month, a 39% increase compared to the same period last year. The impressive monthly results build on a fantastic 2016, when the Airport grew its passenger numbers by 48%. If passenger traffic continues to increase at these rates, CAN will start to get close to its 600,000 to 650,000 annual capacity limits.

Having recently launched services to Faro (Ryanair) and Cork (Aer Lingus), the Airport’s Managing Director Al Titterington has just returned from a successful trip to Belfast, where he attended the Routes Europe conference – an event where airports and airlines meet to determine future new air services. The Airport had 11 meetings with prospective new carriers, as Titterington pursues his goal of attracting a hub connection with the likes of KLM or Lufthansa.
