Green Globe recently recertified two Blue Diamond Resorts luxury properties in the Dominican Republic – the Royalton Punta Cana Resort & Casino and Memories Splash Punta Cana. Both resorts received high compliance scores of 90% and 88% respectively.

Blue Diamond Resorts is highly committed to the socioeconomic wellbeing of its surrounding communities. The company promotes a sustainability policy with the aim of achieving responsible tourism and preserves natural resources for future generations to enjoy. The TUI Academy is just one of the company’s initiatives that reflect its commitment to implementing actions that benefit the community at large.

Royalton Punta Cana, Memories Splash and CHIC Punta Cana together with TUI Care Foundation and Plan International have launched the TUI ACADEMY to provide education and employment opportunities in tourism for young people in the tourist destination of Punta Cana. Over a period of three years, one hundred and fifty disadvantaged girls and boys will receive a year vocational training course through INFOTEP to prepare them for work in the tourism industry.

The initiative, launched last November, will contribute to the social and economic livelihoods of fifty young people who will work at the Royalton Punta Cana chain, Memories Splash and CHIC Punta Cana. Thirty young people are currently taking part in internships in hotel bars, kitchens and housekeeping departments.
