Wedding planning is big business in the travel and tourism industry. The Knot is an established online platform for many years. Are they involved in fraud?

When checking the Businesslọ Ọrụ Azụmaahịa Ka Mma, Knot Worldwide is a US-based company and not accredited by the Better Business Bureau. It has a B rating, a 3.16-star rating, and 80 complaints in the last 12 months.

The BBB lists 9 reviews in 2023. The Knot has one Five Star and 8 One star ratings.

The 5-star rating on The Knot was just posted last week and says:

I have been catering both in Pittsburgh and now in Jacksonville Florida where I am one of the busiest wedding caterers and number one at five of the top venues, thanks in part to Wedding Wire. It is by far the best marketing tool I have had in years. I would definitely recommend it to any catering company, especially to those trying to grow their business faster. Fred D****

The 8 One star Ratings posted in 2023 are painting an alarming picture on The Knot.

I confirm what everyone else is saying about WeddingWire / Knot being a scam and providing fake leads.

How do I know this? Anyone that has contacted me has never replied to my messages and when I told WeddingWire I never get a response, magically some more leads would come in after but they were fake as well.

Additionally, I track website referral traffic to see if I get traffic that converts to a paying customer. You guessed it, nothing. This whole company is a scam and should be shut down by authorities. When I try to cancel the agreement, they fight tooth and nail to keep stealing my money.

They say they do not guarantee leads or bookings and therefore it’s ok to pay WW the privilege to be on their website with no return on investment and sending you fake leads. During the sales process, they’ll talk about all the traffic you’ll get and show other customers that have high conversion rates. I started in December and was told December – February is the highest activity on their website. What did I get with the highest activity?

Fake leads and no response from any customer inquiries. You pay $400+ a month for this. I pay half that on social media a month and get 7+ REAL leads per day that CONVERT because people love the business and past customers and planners recommend my business. This is a scam with fake leads that charge hard-working, small businesses with small margins. It’s disgusting and shameful. The authorities need to shut down WW/Knot.

I spoke to the salesperson Dawn. I was told I could expect to receive up to 70-80 leads per month. As that isn’t happening (by 5 months in I received mostly spam or fishing emails. Totaling 8 leads to that moment), the account manager Chrissy was “providing tips” to get more leads.

She then mentioned “7-8 leads per year” which shocked me. I had written notes of what was “sold” to me of what I was agreeing to be paying for. I’m continually told “I am in a year-long contract” and zero resolution to date.

I dealt with another account manager Hannah. She too, told me there is nothing she could do, as I was in a contract.

The funny thing… I stopped payment until I have a resolution. I was called by the account payables person, who then told me

“I was not guaranteed leads or bookings and that I was paying for advertising” Which is completely false.

Their entire business model is “a lead-generating website” Now, I have three people, telling me three different things. I stopped payment through my financial institution and have contacted the BBB. This type of company deserves to have its doors closed as they prey on small independent owners.

SCAM STAY AWAY!!!!

I really thought this company would help generate more business for me during my quiet months, WHAT A JOKE!!

They suck you in with their BS on how I will do great blah, blah, blah, and all of their promises of getting me tons of business??? However, every lead I have followed has been a dead end and FAKE.

I am $1000.00 in at this point and a small business owner. What kind of company scams people like this???

I have called every lead and when I call they say they never signed up for the knot or it’s a bogus number, I also texted and emailed. Not a single response? Hmmm?

I have a website that gets me business every week and they told me that I need to listen to videos of these sales idiots on how to respond to clients?? What?

I would not be getting business on my own if I did not know how to respond to clients!

I believe I’ve gotten about 11 leads in the past 5 months. None of the names match the names from this website.

I did not sign the contract and I am trying my best to RUN FROM THIS AWFUL NIGHTMARE!

HOW DO THESE PEOPLE SLEEP???

Eric J

I discovered that the leads they are sending are generated by bots or scammers. The leads that have come through had bad numbers and emails.

After discovering this I found out they’ve been scamming others. COMPLAINT ON BBB

“When I was on the sales call with you going over what my business needed, the size of my business, and leads expected, I was excited when you said I would get an average of 116 brides viewing my information PER MONTH based on the package I selected with you.

We talked about how that would be perfect because if I booked even 2-3 of those, that would be perfect and yet nothing near that is happening.”

Update: Wedding Wire has recently merged with *********** – however, both of these sites have given similar experiences to many of my peers.

Is *************** sending out fake leads? Being a vendor with Wedding Wire may leave your pockets empty with the taste of dissatisfaction as well. I’d like to share my personal experience with being a paying vendor on *************** for the Hampton Roads, Virginia Area.”

“WeddingPro Wedding Wire The Knot full of scammers I finally got to the end of the yearlong contract I got myself into last year. The year was full of useless scam inquiries that wasted my time – on top of the money wasted on being a part of this supposed advertising site.”

I have been a loyal paying vendor of The Knot and WeddingWire for several years.

I recently had a nasty review left by a mother of a bride. It was all lies and very destructive to my business reputation and to me personally.

I filed a dispute and was treated with such poor customer relations it was atrocious.

I was never allowed to speak to someone about the dispute on the phone and nobody would help me.

Not even my account manager!

This was so stressful and it all occurred around Christmas 2022. It ruined my holidays.

Right before the negative review was posted, I had actually referred a new vendor to The Knot and Weddingwire.

I essentially got them a new vendor who is paying them lots per year to be on their sites. They didn’t even care about that.

Never even got a thank you!

Nobody was interested in helping me and NOBODY had my back! It was the most disgusting experience I have ever had as a customer.

Also, if you have read their press releases etc. they are a very WOKE company.

Their employees are rude, unprofessional and do not care about their vendors.

They told me that I had to prove the review was untrue. I had the burden to prove that this review was all lies.

How do you do that? I didn’t record our verbal conversations. I was able to provide some documentation and they took the review down during the dispute process.

But they put it back up even when it was still under review.

Do NOT waste your money or precious time with this company. I have now ended my contracts and will never be affiliated with these companies ever again.

And yes, they do have fake leads all the time. It’s very well known in the wedding industry that they are doing this.

I was promised leads and a wider client base when I signed up with this company, but it turned out to be nothing but empty promises.

Unfortunately, I had signed a one-year contract and was unable to get out of it.

The few leads I did receive were not genuine, and one even managed to freeze my payment processing account, causing problems for future payments.

Despite voicing my desire to cancel, my account manager insisted that I had to complete the contract.

While they did help improve my profile, it was not enough to make up for the lack of results and the wasted money.

By the end of the year, I had not gained any clients and was still facing issues with my payment process. Avoid this company at all costs.

Deb F

I have been with the ******* **** and Knott for 5 months. I have not received 1 client from them.

They told me I would be making 8000 a month.

5 months later NOTHING.

I have heard they are referred to as the Mafia. I have had better luck with my business with ****** ads and advertising on my own. R

UN, HANG UP ON THEM DON’T FALL FOR IT.

Ashley R

The Knot is a scam. They’re using marketing and harassment tactics to keep me and other photographers and videographers paying a ton of money only to get fake profiles to message them.

They have stolen money from my small business as well as others, to keep theirs up.

They will not let me or any others out of any contract after they LIE and manipulate you into signing with them.

If you want to support a photographer or videographer, please DO NOT USE THE KNOT.
