If you live in Hawaii, Las Vegas, Nevada, is such a popular travel destination that locals refer to it as the Hawaiian Islands’ 9th island.

Today, Southwest Airlines’ CEO Gary Kelly announced that they are seriously considering adding nonstop flights between the 2 destinations.

The airline is planning to begin Hawaii service in April of this year from 4 California cities and hopes to add Nevada flights in 2020.

Southwest conducted a test flight last month from Oakland, California, to Honolulu, Hawaii, to demonstrate to Federal Aviation Administration officials that the airline should be authorized to fly over the Pacific Ocean. Certification is pending.
