Rwandair, the Rwandan national airline, formally commissioned their two Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft last week, which it purchased from Germany’s Lufthansa last year. The two new birds, one of them named “Inzozi,” the Kinyarwanda word for “dreams,” are already serving the Entebbe, Nairobi, and Johannesburg routes since early January, giving passengers the comfort and speed only a state-of-the-art aircraft can deliver.

At the same time, the airline announced that by 2013 they intend to own and operate six aircraft, which will allow them to expand their route network and flight frequencies to their most important destinations. Goma in the eastern Congo will be added very shortly to the list of new destinations and will be served via Kamembe/Rwanda initially every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

No decision has been made yet as to what type of aircraft, or from which manufacturers, its additional aircraft will be sourced from, which leaves Bombardier, Airbus, and Boeing all still in the running.
