Ottawa has one of the best and most eclectic music scenes in North America, with a whole host of festivals, concerts, gigs and performances on offer to suit just about every musical taste. It’s during the summer that the capital hosts its largest rock, pop, classical and jazz festivals, with none being larger than the RBC Bluesfest which—despite its name—boasts a mix of all genres.

Taking place 5 – 15 July, Bluesfest is one of the largest international music events in North America and, according to Billboard Magazine, is one of the top ten most successful music festivals in the world. The event, which debuted in 1994, was originally a showcase for great blues music but has since evolved into a festival that also features big name pop, rock and dance artists.

This year’s Bluesfest acts have now been announced, with an epic all-star lineup set to wow audiences. Canadian legend Bryan Adams will feature on the main stage alongside rock royalty Foo Fighters and Beck. Jethro Tull, the Dave Matthews Band, Shaggy and Shawn Mendes will also play the main stage at LeBreton Flats in central Ottawa. With the festival likely to attract more than 300,000 revellers with over 200 acts spanning five stages, tickets are expected to sell quickly.

Combining holidays with foreign music festivals is becoming ever more popular for UK travelers. Bluesfest offers visitors the perfect mix of great music, while also allowing them to explore Ottawa’s worldclass cultural, entertainment and nightlife attractions.
