Oaseas Resorts is welcoming warriors to the beach during “Warriors Beach Retreat,” a weekend for wounded soldiers being held on September 17-20. Coordinated/produced by Linda Cope, the retreat weekend has been arranged for approximately 40 wounded soldiers and their families who will enjoy luxury-level lodging provided by Oaseas Resorts and Shores of Panama. The soldiers represent most of the branches of the military and are from all across the country.

Oaseas Resorts’ month-long salute to the military is in keeping with the outreach philosophy of the condominium and rental management company, which represents properties in Panama City Beach and Beaches of South Walton. Members of the military – both retired and active, along with Department of Defense employees, will get 25 percent off rates at all Oaseas Resorts properties during the month of September.

WARRIORS UNWIND ON THE BEACH

As soon as Holcombe learned of the “Warriors Beach Retreat,” she initiated a call to Ms. Cope to offer assistance. Cope’s son, US Army Sgt. Joshua Cope, lost both legs and suffered wounds to both hands in a November, 2006 attack in Iraq after a bomb exploded near his Humvee. She then posted an announcement about the event to a condo owner association’s blog and was met with overwhelming response by individuals wishing to contribute. The Shores of Panama City Beach condominium owners donated 30 units for the event.

Wounded warrior Heath Calhoun, a former member of the 101st Airborne unit and a veteran of the Iraq war, is scheduled to speak at an opening ceremony at the Shrimp Boat Restaurant, and US Army member Daniel Jens, who appeared on the TV show, “America’s Got Talent,” is slated to sing for the troops and their families.
